Simple Guide: Using a Laptop (Primary Host) with DTEN (Co-Host) for Virtual Guest Speakers in the Classroom
Step 1: Join the Meeting on DTEN
1. **On the DTEN panel:**
- Open the **Zoom** app.
- Click **Join**.
- Enter the **Meeting ID** and **Passcode** (same as your laptop meeting).
- If prompted, log in with the same Zoom account used on your laptop.
2. **Select Audio/Video Settings:**
- Ensure DTEN’s **camera and microphone** are enabled.
- Under **Speaker Settings**, select **DTEN Speakers** for best audio.
---
**Step 2: Configure Zoom on Your Laptop**
1. **On your laptop (host):**
- In Zoom, go to **Participants** and find the DTEN.
- Click **More** next to the DTEN and assign it as a **Co-Host**.
2. **Switch Audio/Video to DTEN:**
- Click the **^ arrow** next to the microphone/camera icons.
- Select **DTEN Camera** and **DTEN Microphone** (if not already active).
- *Note:* Your laptop will still control the meeting, but DTEN will handle AV.
---
**Step 3: Ending the Session**
1. **Leave on DTEN:**
- Tap **Leave Meeting** on the DTEN.
2. **End on Laptop (Host):**
- Click **End Meeting for All** when finished.
---
**Troubleshooting Quick Tips**
- **No DTEN audio/video in Zoom?**
- Check that the DTEN is selected in laptop Zoom settings (Mic/Camera ^ menu).
- **Echo or feedback?**
- Mute your laptop’s microphone—only the DTEN should be active.
- **DTEN not showing as co-host?**
- Ensure it’s logged into the same Zoom account as your laptop.
---
**Why This Works:**
- **Laptop = Full meeting control** (screen share, chat, participants).
- **DTEN = Best classroom AV** (camera tracks speakers, mic captures Q&A clearly).
